Video

• iPad:
• Encoded using H264 compression mp4/mov codec at 640 x 360.
• Max file sizes:
• 10-15 MB (streamed)
• 5 MB (embedded)
• Data rate at roughly 800-1000 KB/sec.
• Bit rate may be adjusted higher or lower depending on video to target the max file size recommendations:
• Max: 1.5 MB/sec
• Min: 500 KB/sec
• iPhone:
• Encoded using H264 compression mp4/mov codec at 480 x 360.
• Max file sizes:
  • 5 MB (streamed)
  • 1.5-2 MB (embedded)
• Data rate at roughly 800-1000 KB/sec.
• Bit rate may be adjusted higher or lower depending on video to target the max file size recommendations:
• Max: 1.5 MB/sec
• Min: 300 KB/sec
• OLR/Reader 4:
• Encoded using H264 compression mp4/mov codec at 640 x 360.

• ZNO Reader:

Audio

• All devices/readers:
• MP3 format.
• 64-128 KB/sec.
• Max file sizes:
• 1-1.5 MB (streamed)
• 500 KB (embedded)

NOTE: For optimized user experience, we recommend the following maximum total file size per issue including PDF, interactive assets and reflow articles (when appropriate):

• iPad: 80 MB
• iPhone: 80 MB
• OLR/Reader 4: dependent on total pages in issue. Recommend:
• 80 MB for 200+ page issue
• 40 MB for up to 100 page issue
• ZNO Reader: 80 MB

Sending Rich Media Elements to Zinio

• All rich media elements should be sent to Zinio along with the regular magazine files.
• They should be placed in a folder labeled "Rich Media Elements".
• Elements should not be embedded in the PDF files. Zinio will place and embed all rich media elements in digital magazines.
• The Rich Media Submission Form must be completed listing all rich media elements for the issue with all columns completed.
